American Food Franchises Cut Calories With New Menu Items

Within the past year, America’s most popular fast food chains have introduced new food items to their menus in an attempt to improve their health reputations within the industry. New items introduced in 2013 are, on average, 60 calories better than traditional items.

It is a move studied by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The study exposes that 66 large chains introduced new items to the menu in 2013 that are 12 percent lower in calories, on average, than the items which the same chains added the year before.
