ROME — Italy's highest court will review Wednesday the murder conviction of Amanda Knox, a process which could set up an extradition battle between Italy and the United States. Here's a look at the long-running case's various twists and turns — and what to expect.

The court will examine the American's conviction — and that of her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito — for the murder of Meredith Kercher in in 2007, and will either uphold it or send it to the appeals court.
