When Stephen Colbert left Comedy Central, he did so promising “we’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when.” Well, we always knew the where (CBS, 11:30pm), but now we know the when. Colbert will officially take over for David Letterman on September 8, 2015. Colbert said in a statement, “I have nine months to make a show, just like a baby. So first, I should find out how you make a baby.” But what will we do in the meantime?
Well, first of all, Letterman will still be around, gap-toothedly cracking wise, until May 21st. But after that, you’ll have to look to the Jimmys (Fallon and Kimmel) for your late-night fix because, during the long hot summer, CBS will air encores of primetime series in the 11:30 PM slot.
