Mom’s Allison Janney won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night. It was her 10th Primetime Emmy Award nomination (including another 2015 nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, for her role on Masters of Sex) and seventh win. As host Andy Samberg noted in his opening monologue, this win ties Janney with Ed Asner for the all-time Emmy record for performer wins. Asner has won more Emmys for performance than any other male actor.
In her acceptance speech, Janney thanked Chuck Lorre for “creating such a deeply flawed character and immediately thinking of me to play her.”
