All Systems Ready for Navy's Communications Satellite Launch

Blast off! The MUOS-3, a Lockheed Martin-built Navy communications satellite, is expected to launch from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 20. It will head into orbit aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket.

MUOS-3, the third Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite, is designed to support warfighters using an on-demand, beyond-line-of-sight capability to transmit and receive high-quality, prioritized voice and mission data. It runs on a high-speed Internet Protocol-based system.
