Following yesterday's report that Adam McKay, Ruben Fleischer and Rawson Marshall Thurber were on the shortlist to replace departed director Edgar Wright on Marvel's Ant-Man, it sounds like the studio has made a quick decision. AICN reports it will be Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Step Brothers director Adam McKay reuniting with Paul Rudd for his first non-comedy film. Of course, there's supposed to be a good amount of laughs in this flick, but it's an entirely different kind of movie for McKay, so we're interested in seeing what he can do, especially since The Boys adaptation doesn't seem to be progressing.
McKay's previous work with Rudd probably made him a desirable choice, and even though his strengths are in straight up comedy, those films have been mainstream studio comedies, some with big set pieces like NASCAR in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and even action sequences in The Other ...
