ABC World News Tonight beat its rivals in ratings for the first time in more than five years, a shift in the ballyhooed horse race amid NBC News' six-month experiment with a substitute anchor following the Brian Williams scandal.

About eight million total viewers tuned into ABC World News Tonight with David Muir during the week of March 30 to April 3, edging out perennial evening new leader NBC Nightly News by 84,000 viewers. NBC had 7.91 viewers. The last time ABC led other networks was in September, 2009.
