The James Beard Foundation announced their picks for the Restaurant and Chef Award semifinalists for 2014. Nominees were selected from a list of more than 34,000 entries. For the 25th anniversary, the semifinalists are grouped into 21 categories for each of the U.S.’s 10 regions. A restaurant opened in the calendar year before the award will be given that already displays excellence in food, beverage, and service, and that is likely to make a significant impact in years to come.
