50 Shades of Grey gets 18 and over rating in the U.K.

American teens under 17 can see 50 Shades of Grey as long as they’re accompanied by an adult thanks to its R rating—but teens living in the U.K. aren’t as lucky: The British Board of Film Classification announced that they’re giving the film an 18 rating, meaning no one under the age of 18 will be able to see the film in theaters.

The 18 rating is the equivalent of America’s NC-17 rating and is given to films with “strong portrayals of sexual activity” or “scenes of sexual violence” among other factors.
