$4.2 billion spent annually by Americans on Gluten-free food

Americans spend USD 4.2 billion on gluten-free food each year, a new study has found. Gluten-free food is suggested to people with Celiac disease. An immune reaction is triggered in people with the condition because of eating gluten - a protein present in wheat, barley, and rye. These proteins are very good for health, but people with Celiac diseases are advised to avoid those.

However, it is surprising to know that many people around the world are increasingly avoiding gluten enriched food, despite the fact that they are not suffering from Celiac disease.
