30 new species of fly discovered in Los Angeles

The BioSCAN project (Biodiversity Science: City and Nature), the first of its kind intensive urban biodiversity survey, discovered more than two dozen new species of fly in Los Angeles.

The researchers from the BioSCAN project identified 30 new insect species from the genus Megaselia, which belongs to the family of Phoridae, with the help of the Natural History Museum (NHM).
