250 feared dead, 2,000 missing in Afghan landslide

A landslide triggered by heavy rains buried a village in northeastern Afghanistan Friday, leaving as many as 250 people feared dead and 2,000 missing, according to provincial and local officials.

Dozens remained trapped under rocks, according to Badakshan Provincial police chief, Fazluddin Hayar, the Khaama Press (KP) Afghan News Agency reports.
