21 more Iron Range miners stricken by rare lung cancer

Another 21 Iron Range miners have been stricken with a often-fatal cancer of the lung lining, the state Health Department said Tuesday, bringing to 101 the number of cases among workers in Minnesota’s iron mining industry since the 1930s.

The workers were among 69,000 employed in the northern iron mining industry between the 1930s and 1982. The Health Department didn’t say how many of newly identified miners were still living.
