2013 Saw Modest Increase in US Health Care Spending

A report published online in Health Affairs states that in 2013, US health care spending increased by only 3.6%, and the health care spending share of the gross domestic product remained more or less stable.

Micah Hartman, along with colleagues, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in Baltimore, examined national health spending in 2013. They found that health care spending in the United States increased 3.6% to $2.9 trillion in 2013, which represents $9,255 per person.
