20-year-old military weather satellite explodes in orbit

A Colorado-based satellite tracking company said that last month a 20-year-old military weather satellite exploded in orbit and it sent about 40 pieces of debris into orbits around the earth.

It has been informed that the satellite had been orbiting the planet since 1995. On February 27, the loss of the satellite was confirmed by Air Force Space Command, headquartered at Peterson Air Force Basis in Colorado Springs. This confirmation was done in reply to questions from SpaceNews.com.
