When I wrote Butterfly Skin, a violent novel about a serial killer, his crimes and his love, readers and journalists asked me about my favorite serial-killer books. Really, Dostoevsky and George Bataille influenced me much more than Silence of the Lambs; however, I have the list they asked and would be glad to share it with you.
