Hurricane Jose slowly weakening in the Atlantic

Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Hurricane Jose, which was downgraded to a Category 2 storm Monday morning, is expected to continue weakening over the next couple of days as it lingers in the Atlantic Ocean east of the Bahamas, the National Hurricane Center said.

In its 11 p.m. advisory, the NHC said the center of the storm was located about 400 miles north-northeast of Grand Turk Island and 640 miles north-northwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico with wind speeds of 85 mph. It was moving northeast at 6 mph.
