Harley-Davidson plans cuts as sales, profit fall

Harley-Davidson's sales and profit slipped in the third quarter, compared to the same period a year earlier, and the motorcycle manufacturer made plans for fourth-quarter cuts.

The Milwaukee-based firm's net income fell 18.7% to $114.1 million and revenue declined 3.8% to $1.27 billion. On a per share basis, earnings were 64 cents, matching S&P Global Market Intelligence expectations.
