Backed Separatists Take Debaltseve as Ukrainians Retreat

Russian-backed separatists have taken control of the key town of Devaltseve in e​​astern Ukraine, a move that threatens an already shaky truce that was supposed to go into effect on Sunday. More than 5,000 people have already been killed and repeated international efforts to achieve peace have failed.

Fighting has continued since the ceasefire agreed to last Thursday by leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian soldiers had to retreat from Debaltseve under fire from separatists, and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said his forces left the rail and highway hub under his orders...
